Received Unsolicited Email From RSWarren.com?

If you've received unsolicited email recently from this domain, one of the following is most likely the reason:

Viruses that I had nothing to do with. The latest email viruses propogate with forged identification headers taken from the infected machine's own hard drive. I do not use Windows for my day-to-day work; I run Red Hat Fedora Linux, and so am immune to these type of virus infections. Look for "Robert Warren, Writer and Editor" in the signature area, along with my phone numbers and email address. If they're not there, I didn't mail it.

Email with forged headers. Use the "Show Email Headers" feature of your email program to take a good look at the header information; pay close attention to the lines that say "Received:". If you don't see "rswarren.com" in those lines, it didn't come from me - but someone is trying to make you think it did.

Updates from a mailing list that you forgot you subscribed to. If you were a subscriber of my former newsletter (The Stapler), downloaded one of my PDF documents via email autoresponder, inquired about my services via email, requested to be updated when I posted new website content, or are a current or former client, your email address is on my mailing list unless you've requested it to be removed. I sporadically email general updates on changes to RSWarren.com; you may have received one. If you wish to be removed from this list, simply follow the instructions on the bottom of the email and you won't receive another one.

Carefully researched and targeted service inquiries. In the course of marketing my business, I sometimes use email as a first contact protocol with specific individuals within business organizations. I don't send out unsolicited mass emails; if you have received an email from me about an upcoming contact call, it was sent to you individually because my research indicated that it would be worthwhile to speak with you. You haven't been placed on any mailing list, and if you wish not to talk (or to never hear from me again), you only have to say so.
